The WSET® Level 3 Award in Wines provides in-depth knowledge of a wide range of international wines. This course is suitable for those employed in the liquor industry seeking to broaden their knowledge of international wines. Participation in a WSET two hour and thirty minutes theory and tasting examination is required in the final session.
WSET Level 3 (or an equivalent qualification) is the required stepping-stone/entry requirement to the WSET Level 4 Diploma.
Note: All applicants are asked to complete the Sydney Wine Academy Application form below which will be reviewed by the course director. Completed forms should be returned, by email sydneywineacademy@tafensw.edu.au when you enrol for the course. It is a requirement that the WSET specification document is read before you pay. You can find this document under 'More info'. Students are required to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). More information regarding the USI can be found in our FAQs.
The Academy offers WSET Level 3 Award in Wines in a number of formats throughout the year.
You will need to study at home each week to successfully pass the examination. Please choose your course format carefully to suit your learning style. Whilst the Six (6), Nine (9) week and intensive courses may look convenient it is often the harder format and requires more study at home per week in a shorter period of time.
Contact the Academy if you would like to know the dates of future courses that may not be currently displayed on our website. As part of your enrolment, you receive a Study Pack and, (for some courses) a set of 6 tasting glasses. Once you have received your ‘Course Confirmation’ email, the Study Pack will be available for collection from TAFE NSW, Ryde Campus. Instructions regarding the collection of your Study Pack will be included in the course confirmation. The tasting glasses will be issued during the first class.
It is recommended that you hold the WSET Level 2 Award in Wines or can demonstrate the equivalent level of knowledge via an entry assessment at the Sydney Wine Academy.
