WSET Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits

The WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines and Spirits explores the wines and spirits of the world and includes a wine tasting in each class. 

The program has been designed to provide vocational training in product knowledge for those employed in the liquor industry with little knowledge of the broad range of international alcoholic beverages. 

It is ideal for those seeking a good level of product knowledge, job skills and competencies in handling international wines and spirits. The program is also appropriate for those not employed in the alcoholic beverages industry but who wish to expand their knowledge of international wine and spirits.

Participation in a one-hour, multiple choice WSET examination is required in the final session. 

It is a requirement that the WSET specification document is read before you pay.

What you will learn

  • How wine is made
  • What factors influence wine styles
  • The key white and black grape varieties and their characteristics
  • The important wine-producing regions of the world in which these grapes are grown
  • The production of sparkling, sweet and fortified wines
  • Label terminology
  • How to describe wine using the WSET Level 2 Systematic Approach to Tasting Wine® (SAT)
  • How to make food and wine pairings
  • The principal categories of spirits and liqueurs, and how they are made.
