Whether you are a wine professional or inquisitive enthusiast looking to enhance your knowledge of Spain, this course will provide you with a solid foundation on the wines in a matter of weeks! This Wine Scholar Guild (WSG) Essentials program present the often-complex world of Spanish wine in an accessible and engaging way; highlighting “need to know” regions, grape varieties and wine styles while gaining industry-recognized certification. Not just an introductory course, Spanish Wine Essentials is a launchpad to the highly respected Spanish Wine Scholar® (SWS) certification, the vibrant WSG Community and the first step towards wine mastery. 12 hours of expert classroom instruction completed with tutored tasting of 22 wines. This course is taught by WSG certified instructor Helena Edgerton. In addition to classroom instruction, we recommend that you engage in an additional 13 hours of study before sitting the exam. The number of total hours you spend will vary greatly based on your existing wine knowledge. Students will have one-year access to WSG’s e-learning platform including online support modules and interactive activities related to your course. Registration for the Spanish Wine Essentials Exam and WSG Essentials certificate upon passing the exam.
As part of your enrolment you receive a 95 page course book with up-to-date maps and a set of 6 tasting glasses. Once you have received your ‘Course Confirmation’ email, the course book will be available for collection from TAFE NSW, Ryde Campus. Instructions regarding the collection of your course book will be included in the course confirmation. The tasting glasses will be issued during the first class.
A one-hour online introduction session will be held before your course starts. The Academy will send out more information. If you can’t attend, the introduction session will be recorded for you to access later.
